STOP!!!

I have a tiny gripe.

No, it's not really TINY. And even though everyone suggests that you don't post anything negative on your blog.

Today, I am saying "The heck with that" and I am going to say something!







To designers, writers and fellow blogger! Please stop telling people that it is okay to put their indoor furniture outside! It's not okay to put indoor furniture outdoors unless (and this is important!) it's being placed inside a room that has at least three walls.







Any fabric not made out of spun acrylic will mold and mildew if left out in the elements. Acrylic fabrics are treated to prevent sun, moth, oil and chemicals.

Indoor fabrics are not treated to deal with the harsh elements nor are they usually designed to stand up to sun tan oil, or bugs.  The frames are made of woods and metals that are not designed for outdoor use.  Please, please,please make sure, if you are telling people to place indoor furniture or accessories outdoors, you also tell them to :

1. Bring them indoors after use
2. Use them only on a screened in porch

I have read quite a few articles lately that suggest bringing the indoors out ( literally) is just fine or, "This is my fabulous space and these are the great pieces I brought outside."  Never feeling the need to mention in the article with glossy fab pictures that the it's a completely screened in porch!

I feel it's a responsibility to keep it real with readers and not lead them down a path that could end up damaging their furniture.
