Gnome Sweet Gnome

I can't wait to go and see Gnomeo and Juliet!  It looks adorable!

Speaking of adorable ( segue ) Gnomes are fun!  I know we all see that one house somewhere in our neighborhood that has gone off the deep-end with the Gnomes fairies and woodland creatures.  They make us cringe at the thought of putting anything so gauche in our yards.  The selection of gnomes I have found are fun, imaginative and sure... a little kitschy but, hey, that's half the fun! :-)

I can't promise the hi-jinks that seem to ensue in Gnomeo and Juliet, but at least these little guys will put a smile on your face.

Iconic designer Philippe Starck clearly had some fun when he was designing these little treasures for Kartell. Here are his  friends: Attila, Napoleon and the tree stump St. Esprit. They are available in pastel colours or you can choose from the special addition gilded gold or black.  Each gnome is made out of batch-dyed thermoplastic techno-polymer.

Vitamin has a version of the gnome that is pretty darn high-tech looking.  The company's mission statement includes details on creating things that make life a little less ordinary.  I, certainly, can relate and agree.  Their modern version of the garden gnome is called Urban Creature Urban Gnome.  Made from bone china, these little guys are pretty darn cute..

All the Urban Gnomes are available as Glow Gnomes in the UK and Europe. Check with your local retailer to see if they carry the Glow Gnomes :)

Baddys are designed by Joe Velluto and  A. Fabbian for Plust  They are not called gnomes but, instead, are called dwarf guards.  Okay, call them dwarfs but I think they look like modern garden gnomes.  These little guys are sculpted out of resin to withstand the outdoor elements.

Put this guy in some natural light for a few minutes and he will glow protecting your garden for hours.
